Verb + ing যুক্ত হয়ে যখন noun এবং verb এর কাজ করে তাকে gerund বলে । প্রদত্ত বাক্যে swimming শব্দটি sub হিসাবে কাজ করায় শব্দটি noun এবং gerund উভয় বলা যায় । তবে gerund বলাটাই অধিক যুক্তযোগ্য ।
